February 16, 2009 -   Took Bingo to Kansas this weekend to breed to Robb.
Anticipated Whelp date :  April 20, 2009

March 25, 2009  -   Had an Ultrasound today.   I did see some puppies but there is no way to know how many.   All I know is that Bingo is pregnant.   It was really cool to be able to see the heartbeat of the puppies that we did view.

April 8, 2009  -  Had an x-ray performed on Bingo and we saw 5 puppies on the film.   Others have informed me that the number they have seen from x-ray has always been less than the actual number of puppies whelped.  Well.... we will see in a little over a week how many we will get.

April 17, 2009  - X-ray was very accurate.  There were only 5 pups.

DOB  4-17-09
 4 Males   1 Female
Yarn colors...  Blue, Yellow, Orange and Pink. Pup #5 has no yarn.
The puppy with the pink yarn on is the only female.

April 27, 2009  -   All puppies are growing and doing well.  These pups were very large at birth ranging from 17oz down to 11 oz.  In the first 3 days, three of the pups gained 7 oz each and the other two gained 8 oz each.   I am sure these pups will settle in to a more average weight range but for now, they are quite large.

Bingo (front) and Robb (back) May 5, 2008

This breeding would be considered a "line breeding".  Bingo's Grandmother, Highlander's Mirthful Miss MH (aka Buttons), is a littermate to Robb but there isn't a particular dog that has a high COI or shows up multiple times in a particular generation.  This breeding takes the breeding that produced Robb and Buttons and brings that line back closer to the pups.

The pedigree includes two National Amateur winners, Marshfield Tucker and Orion's Arch Rival (two times), two National Open winners, Morgan's Agatha Broderick and Kenkew Briar of Saradynpark.
One Hall of Fame Dog, Tridon Orion Ms American Pie is in the pedigree as well.
Other notables are Eagleviews Winchester, Orion's Ebony Repeater, Rytex Rod, Housty Samson.
You can research these dogs from the sources on the "Other Links" page.  Also, an internet search of their registered names will bring up information as well.

Robb has proven himself well in AKC Field Trials and AKC Hunt Tests.  Robb has his Open Field Championship, Amateur Field Championship and Canadian Field Championship.  Robb also came very close in the US National Open and US National Amateur placing 2nd in both Nationals in 2004.  In 2006, Robb was the US Amateur High Point Dog of the Year.  In the 2008 National Amateur, there were 111 dogs that started the trial and Robb was one of 22 dogs that went into the 5th Series  He completed the trial but did not get a placement. Robb is continuing to place in field trials being awarded a 4th Place Ribbon at the NE Oklahoma Field Trial on March 14 & 15, 2009.  Robb has also participated in AKC Spaniel Hunt Tests and has earned the Master Hunter Title.

Bingo has been hunted extensively and also participates in the AKC Hunt Tests.  She completed her Senior Hunter title in the Fall of 2007.  She completed her Junior Hunter Title in 4 attempts and also completed her Senior Hunter Title in 4 attempts.  She knows how to find birds and retrieves nicely to hand.   I continued to work with Bingo in 2008 and during the hunting season to firm up her steadiness.  In January 2009, she was staying consistently steady.  I ran her in an Upland Classic on Jan 31, 2009 and she was steady to flush and shot on the two birds we found.  We didn't find the 3rd bird to get a good score, but I was very pleased with her search, steady work and retrieve.  It was worth the entry fee to put her in the event with me nervous and the excitement of the day and still get to watch her stay steady to flush and shot.  I am more confident about running her in Master Level Hunt Tests in Fall 2009.

Below are some pictures of Robb and Bingo and also a couple links to video clips of Robb.  I am anticipating the litter to be heavy on the Liver color and/or markings.  Based on Robb and Bingo's style in the field, I expect the pup's to have a nice fluid motion in the field.  Their conformation of leg length to body height makes for a nice reach when they run and a smooth running appearance.   Robb, even though he has several field championships and National placements, is a very easy dog in the house and knows how to turn off his enthusiasm when not working in the field.  Bingo has also shown she can be an easy dog in the house as well.   I am expecting these pups to be calm in the house and around people yet have the "stuff" one needs for a very nice hunting dog.

Below are video's of Robb retrieving a tennis ball and Bingo retrieving a bumper.  These videos are for the purpose of seeing the movement, size and markings on both dogs.    Click on the title below to watch the video.
