ON A PHEASANT HUNT IN NORTH DAKOTA.....DEC 2007

Bingo came into my life in late June 2005.  She was in a litter of pups out of Spud x High Plains Katy.  A friend and hunting partner, Rick Schiller, wanted to breed his female, Katy, so we put her with Spud and had a litter of 8 puppies.  We partnered up on selling the pups, so in late June 2005, all 8 puppies came to my house for a few days as people started coming to get their pup.   Bingo was sold but re-entered my life when the new owner had some medical problems and knew that Bingo would not get the attention she needed over the next few months.  I quickly agreed to take her back and she never left my house again.  She has been a very easy dog to be around and has proven she would make a nice house pet if she was allowed to come in the house.

Her first Fall of Hunting exposed her to doves, woodcock, rabbit and pheasants.  After spending 4 days in Kansas in early November, she was quite fired up to search for her own game.   I was able to get her into a large flight of woodcock soon after arriving back in the Ozarks and she promptly started working the thick cover and producing birds.   She produced many birds but I finally was able to bag 3 and she retrieved to hand all three birds. A couple she marked down but the last one was a blind retrieve.  I was quite pleased with her work.  She has continued to prove her worth as a nice hunting dog and companion.

Bingo has been a blast this year working at different game bird farms picking up birds for European Style Pheasant Shoots.  Some of the things I have seen her do the last couple of months has really made me smile.  Her line steadiness has continued to improve to the point where I can relax and just watch her mark birds and retrieve when I send her.  I had her stop while coming back with a retrieve and mark other birds down.  Really some nice work in some highly tempting situations.

I have been fortunate to have had the chance to work Bingo in many situations.  Woodcock hunting in the Ozarks is probably my most favorite with wild pheasant hunting a close second.  She handled jump shooting ducks well and also waited calmly while we tried to decoy ducks into a water hole.  The ducks didn't show up that day but Bingo handled the morning well and was a pleasure to be with.  She has hunted in a variety of styles and situations.

Bingo has done well in the AKC Spaniel Hunt Test Program earning her Junior and Senior Titles.  She is now working on her Master Title and has 4 Passes and needs one more to complete her Master Title.   She has also earned 2 Started Passes in the HRC Hunt Test program.  I have competed with Bingo in an Upland Classic Event and she placed 3rd in the Open Flushing Division in the one Open event I entered her.
